Even she cannot pump any life into the bargain basement compositions that weigh down her self-titled sophomore LP. One of the few impressive vocalists to emerge in recent years, Fantasia can sink her teeth into a song like it's no one else's business. Seldom in recent music history has talent been this misplaced. In my opinion so much more creative and original then her debut effort. "Bump What Ya Friends Say" - Very old school sounding (Aretha, Gladys Knight etc.). A solid beat with great lyrics and vocals. "Sunshine" - GREAT track! Good beat and great vocals. Sounds a bit like a throwback tune mixed with a current R&B/Hip Hop sound and it's great!! 5/5ġ3.
"Bore Me (Yawn)" - LOVE IT!! SO good and SO original. The beat and the piano sound a bit out of place with the vocals. "Surround U" - Not too thrilled about this song. Nothng major really stands out about this song. "Two Weeks Notice" - A good slow-mid tempo jam. Maybe it's the horns in it, I am not sure. "Uneligible" - Not a huge fan of this song. "I'm Not That Type" - A good bumper!!!! Another great club banger! Such great beats! VERY catchy!! 5/5ĩ. "I Feel Beautiful" - Another great slow jam. Makes you want to hit the nearest dance floor.QUICK!! The chours is so catchy and infectious you will be singing along in no time. "Not The Way That I Do" - LOVE IT!!! An excellent song! THis is a club banger through and through. "She's got them baby makin' hips" Hmmmmmmmm.ok.
"Baby Makin' Hips" - A good beat that makes you want to dance but, as you can see by the title the lyrics are not that great. A good song with a lot of feeling and soul in it. "I Nominate U" - A very nice "love" slow jam. "When I See U" - A great midtempo song with an excellent melody to it. Makes you want to tap your feet and bob your head.
"Hood Boy" - This is the first single and it features Outkast's Big Boi. I liked it from the first listen and just cannot stop listening to it.ġ. Her voice sounds great and there is the perfect blend of club ready tracks along with some smooth R&B slow jams as well. In my opinion there seems to be more depth and personality on it then her debut CD. I am very pleased with Fantasia's sophmore effort. With performances like these, FANTASIA is sure to please the diva's AMERICAN IDOL fans, and win her some new ones as well. The production is superior, and the songs are strong, but the real selling point of the disc is still Fantasia's dazzling, powerhouse voice.

Yet FANTASIA is full of energetic R&B drivers and aching ballads that owe more to Motown and Stax/Volt than Def Jam. Consequently, Fantasia's follow-up sticks more closely to vintage R&B, resulting in a more confident and consistent album.This is not to say that Fantasia doesn't still have her fingers in the hip-hop pie: there is a rap from Outkast's Big Boi on "Hood Boy," for example, and "Two Weeks Notice" was co-written by Missy Elliott. Yet the slick, urban contemporary sound of the album may have alienated some of Fantasia's fans, who were more accustomed to the old-school approach she'd displayed on AMERICAN IDOL.
